Singapore is hosting the Clipper 2013-14 Round the World Yacht Race, which departed London, September 1, for the eighth time in its nine year event history, making it one of the most frequently visited countries on the global race circuit. In February 2014, the Clipper Race fleet will berth for the first time at the ONE ̊15 Marina Club, located in the exclusive Sentosa Cove enclave region.

The Clipper Race is the longest ocean race in the world, covering 40,000 miles and visiting 15 ports on six continents. The 2013-14 edition of the race is the biggest in its history and will include over 670 crew from 40 different nationalities, on board twelve brand new designed 70-ft ocean racing yachts.

Awarded ‘Best Asian Marina of the Year’ in 2009, 2012 and 2013 at the annual Asia Boating Awards, Singapore’s ONE ̊15 Marina Club is considered Asia's finest marina and leisure hub, making it a fitting choice to host the prestigious sailing event.

ONE ̊15 Marina Chairman, Mr Arthur Tay, said: “We are very happy to host the world famous Clipper Round the World Yacht Race at ONE ̊15 Marina Club, Sentosa Cove. This international event
underscores our commitment to the continued development of Singapore as the regional hub for luxury yachting and as a major destination for such major sporting events.”

“International events such as the Clipper Race generate a significant tourism and financial boost to the economy, and we are working closely with the Singapore Tourism Board to ensure this continues to develop in years to come.”

Clipper Race CEO, William Ward, said:  “Singaporeis a vibrant, global destination that offers a world of culture and business opportunities for our sponsors and crew. The Clipper Race has enjoyed along and successful history in Singapore and we look forward to this continuing with the ONE ̊15 Marina Club.”

The Clipper Race left London on Sept 1 and is on its way to Rio de Janeiro where it will complete Leg 1. The race will then continue via South Africa, Western Australia, Sydney (including the world famous Rolex Sydney Hobart Race) and Brisbane. The fleet are expected to arrive in Singapore between the 8–9 February and will stay for approximately a week before departing for China, San Francisco, Panama, Jamaica, New York, Derry Londonderry and the Netherlands before returning to London for Race Finish in July 2014.
