Club Buzz: Higher Security Measures, Moving Towards a Plastic-Free Marina & More

Dec 23, 2019

Dear Members,

Part of being a world-class marina includes being prepared for emergencies and doing our part for the environment. Here are some new initiatives the Club undertook recently, in our commitment towards our reputation as a FIVE Gold Anchor award marina.

  1. Marina Fire Drill
  2. Swipe Card for Marina Entry
  3. Cleaner, Greener Marina: Action Against Plastics & Balloons
  4. Change in Opening Hours at WOK°15 Kitchen

Marina Fire Drill

The marina and security teams recently conducted a fire drill at the marina, to ensure that all parties would be completely prepared for the safe and efficient evacuation of all occupants in the event of a fire emergency. The dedicated CERT team, fire wardens, appointed first aiders and the SCDF practiced their drills and evacuation procedures, including rescuing casualties trapped below deck and extinguishing boat fires.

Swipe Card for Marina Entry

Stay at ease with higher marina security implemented at our marina. Recently the Club has upgraded the marina’s access gate system. Boaters can now exchange marina access card for a new temporary access card. Request for an access card for your captain or crew can be done by filling in the crew identity pass form at the marina office.

Cleaner, Greener Marina: Action Against Plastics & Balloons

In a bid to maintain our clean and green marina, the Club will be banning the use of confetti and balloons on board yachts. What provides a split moment of novelty often ends up lying at the bottom of the seabed for years as hidden waste, affecting the natural ecosystem in the ocean. We seek the support of our Members and boaters to preserve the beauty of our marina.

To assist in this transition, here are some environmentally friendly party alternatives to balloons and confetti.
