Club Updates – July 2021

Jul 1, 2021

29 June 2021

Dear Members,

We hope you are keeping safe and well at home.

As you are aware, on the 28th of June 2021, the Malaysia Government announced the extension of full lockdown until the drop of cases below 4000 and its targets on vaccination and intensive care unit (ICU) bed usage are met.

In compliance with the current regulation, our Sports Centre remains temporarily closed until restrictions are lifted and we are allowed to resume operations. Upon lifting of restrictions, the sports centre will be ready to welcome you back with exciting classes and events for you to enjoy.

Until then, we have put together some curated virtual activities for the month of July for you and your family to enjoy from the comfort of your home. Details are included below.

We thank you for your support and look forward to seeing you at the Club in the near future. Stay safe and healthy!

Sincerely,

Brian E. Werner,

General Manager

Club News

Did you know?

In Malaysia, fatal water-related accidents average between 650 to 700 per year for the past 10 years, without any signs of decreasing. Unfortunately compared to Australia, a country with a similar population, Malaysia has more than double the incidents per year. With proper water safety education and swimming lessons from a young age under professional supervision, these incidents could be avoided. Here at ONE°15 Estuari Sports Centre, we believe in the importance of swimming, not only as a sport but as a life skill.

Meet our Coaches

MR. THOMAS LEE – WAHOO™ Swim School

Mr. Thomas grew up being actively involved in the world of aquatics and in his 20 years of competitive career. As a former national water polo player himself, Thomas’ love for aquatics and water polo knows no boundaries where for the past 10 years (and counting), he is still competitively involved and participates in local & international Masters Championships.

Before TAD Sports Lab and WAHOO™ Swim School was founded, Thomas has been actively involved in aquatic sports development on a voluntary basis. Thomas sees that in order to improve the quality of aquatic sports in Malaysia, it all has to begin with the right education and with a strong mindset required for sports. The best strategy is to start from grassroot development, which was built upon the motto of WAHOO™ Swim School is “Swim Like A Champ”.

WAHOO™ is proud to have produced more than 3000 grassroot swimmers, 400 competitive swimmers, 50 state swimmers, 20 national swimmers, and have broken more than 30 state and national records in just 4 years! These swimmers are not only able to excel in the pool but they are able to produce great results and most importantly display true characteristics of a sportsman in the school too. We are proud to have his swim academy on board with us to further carry the vision and groom future athletes at our very own ONE°15 Estuari Sports Centre.

Tip of the month – Breathing

It is common to feel short of breath during exercise. When your muscles activate, they require more oxygen than when you are resting. However, faster breathing does not always result in more oxygen intake. It is very easy to forget to take deep breaths when exercising which can lead to feeling short of breath, tired, and ultimately disrupt your performance.

Yoga is a great way to practice mindful breathing under pressure. Join our virtual Morning Flow Yoga programme to find out more.
